Grammar workshop: easily confused words, verb tense shifts, parallelism errors. Quiz 2. Review of the two argument structures before Thursday.
In-Class Writing 1. Full period, handwritten. I will provide two sides of an argument along with some additional information (so you don't need to look anything up); you will write an essay that breaks both arguments down using Toulmin terms (claim, grounds, warrant) and analyzes the Aristotelian appeals being employed in each (ethos, pathos, logos). You'll end with a paragraph taking a side on the issue and explaining why you took that side: was it the quality of the claim and grounds? Was it because you agree with the warrant? Was the appeal to ethos, or the appeal to pathos, or the appeal to logos particularly strong? In what ways? You'll need to give examples.
