Main reading: Kaag & van Belle, Ch. 8
Supplemental reading: None
I'll provide a video lesson on Chapter 8 that you can watch before class this week. (This is called a flipped classroom: you get the content before class, and then you apply it in class.) The chapter goes over what goes in a conclusion, what to avoid, and techniques for making writing less stressful.
Informal Assignment 7: read and discuss an article with the conclusion removed, write a conclusion as a group, then compare it with the original.
I'll post the article right before class starts, so no one has a chance to cheat beforehand. It'll be short enough that an average college student can read it and still have time to discuss it and help write a conclusion. (I had better hear actual discussion going on in class—not quiet groups where everyone is using AI to do the work for them!)
Final, Day 1: In-Class Writing 3, first period. Drafting from the paper research packet. Drafts collected at the end of the period.
NOTE: To complete your final in this course, YOU MUST ATTEND NEXT TUESDAY. Yes, I know it's Thanksgiving week. But school is in session until Wednesday, so make sure your parents know that before they come to pick you up.
(Use for Thursday of this week and Tuesday of next week)
